Agoda built its reputation as the website with steeply discounted hotel rooms.

Basically, Agoda makes money by saving travelers money. So it’s no surprise that Agoda also offers promo codes that allow users to receive further discounts on their bookings.

In this guide, we’ll explore how Agoda’s promo codes work.

We’ll cover what a promo code is, how to find and apply one to your booking, how codes work in the Agoda app versus the website, plus why you should create a user account to maximize the benefits of being an Agoda customer.

What Is An Agoda Promo Code?

Agoda offers promo codes to incentivize new customers to try its website and to keep past customers coming back. Typically, Agoda’s promo codes range in value from discounts of 5% to 20%.

Promo code, promotion code, coupon code, discount code and voucher code are different terms for the same thing. Agoda customers interchange them, but we’ll use the term “promo code” in this guide.

How To Find And Use A Promo Code At Checkout

At the top of the home page, click “Today’s deals” (or just click here).

You’ll see 2 categories:

1. Explorer Deals

2. Everyday Deals

Agoda displays five Explorer Deals and four Everyday Deals.

Explorer Deals and Everyday Deals are destinations that Agoda is trying to promote, by offering discounted rooms. These destinations can change often, so re-visit later if you’re not interested in what’s currently displayed.

Today’s Deals

Explorer Deals

Explorer Deals promo codes range from discounts of 5% to 10%.

To get more information about a particular Explorer Deals offer, click on one of the destinations shown. I clicked on Hong Kong in this example.

Click “Copy” or save the promo code somewhere, so you’ll have it ready at checkout.

To find a local hotel to apply the code towards, just click “Search Properties”. After you find a listing that suits your tastes and budget, select your room type. On the Customer Information page, scroll down until you see a box that reads, “Enter your promo code here”.

This is where you’ll paste your Explorer Deals code.

After entering the promo code, a green checkmark should appear beside the text box - which means your code was accepted as valid. If you see a red X, the code is invalid.

The discount will apply towards your booking total (beside “Promotion Discount”). As you see in the screenshot above, the 10% discount was applied to my hotel room in Hong Kong. Click “NEXT PAGE” at the bottom, then complete your booking.

You’ll arrive at the Completed Booking page (screenshot below).

Everyday Deals

Agoda’s second deals category is Everyday Deals.

Agoda features four Everyday Deals destinations per day, discounted by as much as 20%.

Unlike Explorer Deals, Everyday Deals don’t require you to enter a promo code.

Instead, Everyday Deals are Agoda’s promotions for hotels in specific destinations. In the screenshot above, Agoda offers discounts up to 17% in Vientiane, Laos. When you click an Explorer Deals destination, you’ll be directed to a list of discounted properties in that destination.

After you find a room that suits your tastes and budget, complete your booking as normal.

Can You Use Promo Codes On The Agoda App?

Agoda’s website and app function similarly.

But one feature that’s left behind in the app is the Today’s Deals page. Unfortunately, Explorer Deals promo codes can only be applied on Agoda’s desktop version. If you enter an Explorer Deals code in the app, it will be rejected.

As you see in the screenshot above, the app rejected the same Explorer Deals code from the website, even though I applied it to the same listing.

But the app sometimes offers unique coupon codes and discounts that aren’t available on the website (screenshot below - from my account), so I recommend downloading it if you plan to be a repeat Agoda customer.

Create An Agoda Account To Earn Additional Promo Codes

Agoda sometimes gifts promo codes to customers with accounts. This is why it’s smart to create an Agoda account if you plan to book more than once. Here’s a screenshot from my account.

You can apply these discounts using the process I demonstrated above.

Just copy and paste the code into the Customer Information page when booking. In my experience, it seems Agoda offers more promo codes to me as my total number of successful bookings increases.

Important Tips!

• In my experience, the text for Explorer Deals promo codes is usually the destination name in all capital letters, like “BANGKOK” or “BARCELONA”. I’ve found them to be case-sensitive as well.

• Promo codes expire, so take advantage when you find a good one!
