What is Phoenix Jailbreak?

Phoenix Jailbreak v6 is the latest version of the popular jailbreak tool for iOS 9.3.6 released on 22 Mar 2021. iOS 9.3.5 was jailbroken over a year later after the official Apple release, and the initial release of Phoenix was presented to the jailbreak community in 2017.

There is no untethered jailbreak for iOS 9 available. Phoenix is the jailbreak tool for the latest iOS 9. Because it's a semi-untethered jailbreak, it will stop working every time you restart the device. If this happens, you will need to re-jailbreak iOS 9.3.5 / 9.3.6 using the Phoenix app.

The jailbreak supports the latest release of iOS 9 making it compatible will all devices running the old firmware. After jailbreaking your iPhone or iPad, it installs by default the Cydia app. Using this package manager you will access apps, tweaks, and themes from Cydia Repositories.

Jailbreaking iOS 9 using this amazing tool is extremely simple. What's more, it detects supported devices and iOS versions automatically. It's worth mentioning, that Phoenix exploit is also the main core of other modern jailbreaks for iOS 9 such as p0laris or kok3shi.

p0laris aims to deliver an untether in the near future via repo. When spv will manage to achieve it, the jailbreak will be the first to deliver an untethered jailbreak for iOS 9. There is also a UniBoot tweak for iOS 9 available that semi-reboots the device, but it may break Phoenix Jailbreak.

For years, Phoenix Jailbreak was updated six times. An important update was announced when Apple released iOS 9.3.6 in 2019 to fix some security issues with their mobile system. Fortunately, Phoenix was also updated with a new jailbreak exploit for iOS 9.3.6.

It's not a secret that iOS 9.3 is really out-of-date. Apple doesn't support any of the older devices, and no new features are added. Once you will jailbreak the iDevice with Phoenix, you will be able to install new tweaks and hacks that will add new features to the old system.

And here comes jailbreak in handy. Refresh the look, feel, and features of your device and install some apps and tweaks provided by the big jailbreak community.

Is Phoenix Jailbreak safe?

I can assure you that installing and using this iOS app is absolutely safe. After jailbreaking your device, there are no permanent changes applied. To remove the jailbreak, simply uninstall all apps and tweaks and restart the device.

Google Safe Browsing diagnostic page interpret ants the official website as a potential page with harmful software that can trick you to install an unwonted app on your device. In reality, there are no viruses on this page. It's only the software to exploit iOS to install Cydia.

Download Phoenix Jailbreak

There are two ways to install Phoenix on your iOS device. Without a computer or signing and sideloading the IPA file to your iPhone, iPod, or iPad. The second method requires a Desktop and has a 100% success ratio. Web links [no computer] are often revoked and do not work.

Sign and sideload Phoenix IPA file

Phoenix6.IPA can be installed on all iOS 9 devices using a Desktop tool like Sideloadly. This Cydia Impactor alternative can sideload IPA files over USB cable or through Wi-Fi. Sideloadly is available for macOS or Windows, but the workflow is the same no matter of chosen version.

When you are running a Linux computer, there is a dedicated version of AltStore that supports this system. AltStore can sign and install IPA files on iOS 9.3 and up through AltServer.

Step 1. Download Phoenix Jailbreak IPA [link available at top of this page].

Step 2. Open Sideloadly application.

Step 3. Connect your iPhone or iPad to the computer via USB.

Step 4. Drag and drop the Phoenix6.IPA file on Sideloadly window.

Step 5. Provide your Apple ID to sign the IPA file with a free certificate.

Step 6. Click the Start button to install the jailbreak tool on your iDevice.

Step 7. Enter the password for your Apple ID.

To make this process even easier we included on top of this page quick URL links allowing you to download, sign and install the Phoenix Jailbreak v6 IPA file with just one click through your favorite tools such as Sideloadly, ReProvision, or AltStore. Because Phoenix IPA was signed by your own certificate it's required to trust it to open app on your device.

Step 8. From Home Screen, open the Settings app.

Step 9. Navigate to General → VPN & Device Management pane.

Step 10. Tap on the developer app with your e-mail.

Step 11. Tap on Trust to allow the app to run on your device.

Install Phoenix Jailbreak without a PC

Phoenix Jailbreak can also be installed on your iPhone or iPad without the need to run a PC. This method uses a signed version of Phoenix IPA that can be installed through the Safari browser. This method often fails because the globally available certificate gets revoked by Apple.

Install Phoenix no computer

Step 1. Tap on “Install Phoenix Jailbreak” from the Safari browser.

Step 2. When the message prompt “would like to install Phoenix” tap Install.

Step 3. Phoenix app icon will appear on your Home Screen.

Step 4. When the app will be downloaded correctly, no error will appear.

Step 6. Run Phoenix Jailbreak for iOS 9 and jailbreak your device.

When the installation goes well, it's also required to trust the newly added certificate from the Settings app. Follow the instruction from the previous installation guide, starting from Step 8.

How to jailbreak iOS 9

Installing Cydia and jailbreaking iOS 9 using Phoenix Jailbreak is very easy. After you sideload the app onto your iPhone or iPad, you are just a few steps from jailbreaking. This is how to do it.

  1. Open the Phoenix app from the Home Screen.
  2. Tap on “Prepare For Jailbreak”.
  3. Wait for the jailbreak to exploit iOS 9 and respring the device.
  4. Open the Cydia app from the Home Screen to start installing tweaks.

Whenever you reboot your iDevice the jailbreak will be disabled. To enable all tweaks, again open the app from Home Screen and tap on "Kickstart Jailbreak”. If the app expires after 7-days or will step opening, install the IPA file again with your preferred method.

The jailbreak doesn't come with an option to remove itself. If you prefer to stay on the same iOS 9 versions but with a clean system, use the Succession app. It allows you to restore the system without upgrading it to the latest version, like when using iTunes.

What's new

  • Revamped bootstrap installation to use libarchive instead of GNU tar.
  • Inlined /bin/launchctl into the Phoenix binary to prevent codesigning issues from sideloading.
  • Recompiled with Hikari [no functional changes].
  • Ships with offsets for 9.3.6 now.
  • Adds the option to force a complete reinstall by holding down on "Kickstart Jailbreak”.
  • Fixes two crashes when contacting phoenixpwn.com for offsets.

Hey, what doesn't work for you? You need to install the Phoenix Jailbreak using a computer. The direct web links often get revoked by Apple and will not work.
