Live wallpaper not working iOS 16

From unsending messages to sending messages in Siri to other features involving Focus, Maps and Mail, this might be one of the most exciting updates yet.

The release of iOS 16 comes with a number of other new products in September, including the AirPod Pro 2 and the newest Apple watches.

However, Live Wallpaper is gone after the latest update which has left some users disappointed.

Live wallpapers are gone with iOS 16

A number of social media users have reported that Apple’s latest iOS 16 update doesn’t include their favourite feature Live Wallpaper.

Many users flooded Twitter with reactions and posts asking Apple Support why the feature was removed within the new update.

While there is no announcement if the feature will come back, you can leave product feedback and share your suggestions on Apple’s website.

“Thank you for bringing this to our attention,” Apple Support responded to one user. “We can certainly point you in the right direction. You can leave feedback regarding this by going to [Product Feedback].”

The live wallpaper removal upsets users

It’s safe to say the removal of Live Wallpaper has left many users upset and a number of them took to Twitter to share their opinions.

One Twitter user commented: “Dear @Apple please PLEASE bring back the live wallpaper feature in the next update we actually LOVED it this is all I ask please IOS 16 is great but we need the live wallpapers.”

Someone else wrote: “I hear Live wallpapers on the Lock Screen have gone in iOS 16. True? If so, my iPhone 13 pro max will stay on 15. Kinda like mine the way it is.”

Another one added: “iOS 16 took live wallpapers from me and that’s one thing I won’t forgive.”

Other new iOS 16 features

Other new features include unsending and unreading messages with the option to edit a message for up to 15 minutes within sending it.

Users also have a live text feature added to videos, as well as the ability to set a series of photos to shuffle automatically on their Lock Screen.

Focus Mode can now be linked to the Lock Screen and users can set boundaries within Apple apps like Calendar, Mail, Messages and Safari for each Focus you enable. 

Another new addition is the personalised Lock Screen where people can create customised wallpapers with their favourite emojis.

As of the iOS 16 Update, Live Wallpapers have been removed. So any iPhone, like iPhone 14, that has iOS 16 will not be able to use Live Wallpapers. Instead of Live Wallpapers, iPhone 14 users can use Animated Wallpapers or Wallpapers that have the Depth Effect. These are the only options the user has to have a lively animated Wallpaper. Here is how you can get a Live Wallpaper-like option on iPhone 14 with iOS 16.

• On your Lockscreen, tap & hold the empty space till it zooms out.
• At the bottom right corner, you should see a + button.
• Click it to open up the Wallpapers Menu.
• Now, the only true Animated Wallpaper option here is the Weather Wallpaper.
• Select & confirm it.
• Another one is the Earth Wallpaper.
• You have the options between the Earth, Earth & Moon, and the Solar System.
• This is how you can set a Live Wallpaper on an iPhone 14.
• The Depth Effect takes an image that you have and separates the subject of the image & the background.
• This gives a 2D image a 3D effect.
• You could get an image that you like and have its background changed thanks to the Depth Effect feature.
• There is a way t get a Live Wallpaper but it involves using a Third-Party App.
• Get the App and upload a GIF image to it.
• Save it on your Camer Roll and set it as your Wallpaper.
