How do you make someone stop sharing their location with you iPhone?

Checklist: If you want to make sure no one else can see your location

To stop sharing your location with apps and services, for even a short period of time, go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services and turn off Location Services. This stops apps on your device, such as Maps, from using your location. No one is notified when you turn off location services, but some features may not work as expected without access to your location.

If you need to use certain apps that require location permissions, such as Maps or ride sharing apps, you can give app permission individually by going to Settings > Privacy > Location Services and allowing only certain apps to use location services.

To Stop sharing location in the Find My app, go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Share My Location and turn off Share My Location. If you're concerned someone may have access to your Apple ID, you can also temporarily turn off Find My iPhone in this tab.

You can stop sharing your location with a particular person by going to the Find My app, going to the People tab, select the individual and tap Stop Sharing My Location. If you stop sharing your location in Find My, the person will not receive a notification, but they will not be able to see you on their list of friends. If you re-enable sharing, they get a notification that you have started sharing your location with them.

You can also choose to share your location with others using third-party apps. If you haven't turned off Location Services in Privacy Settings, conduct a review of apps you have installed on your device to see if any of them are sharing your location, and follow the relevant instructions to stop sharing.

Turn on Tracking

Before you start tracking, ensure that the feature has been enabled. From your iPhone [or iPad] go to Settings > [Your name] > Find My > Find My iPhone/iPad. Make sure that Find My iPhone/iPad is turned on. To allow your device to be located when it’s offline, turn on the switch for Find My Network. And to make sure the device can be tracked even if the battery charge is almost depleted, enable the switch for Send Last Location.

To allow tracking of your Apple Watch, open the Settings app on your watch and go to [Your name] > Apple Watch > Find My Watch. Turn on the switches for Find My Watch and Find My Network if they’re not already enabled.
