Best blender food processor combo Reddit

I need a decent blender that can purée stuff and maybe chop ice. My only request is that it not have buttons that stick out and can get broken so easily. The food processor needs to be able to grate cheese, make pasta sauce, etc. I would like to not spend more than 100 dollars on each. What do you recommend?

Get a ninja. I saw them at target for like 129$. They are amazing!

level 2

I'll throw in a vote for a Ninja a well. I've had one for a couple years now and love it.

If you've got access to a Costco, they have a nice combo on one. Blender, processor, and 3 travel cups for like $120 total. Pretty sure it's about 1200 Watts, so plenty of power.

I'm going with a Ninja, thanks! 20% off a 99 dollar blender at Bed Bath and Beyond makes me happy.

level 2

I bought one at Big Lots for $70. And yes, it's amazing.

level 2

Did they stop making their stick blender? My folks have their Ninja Warrior, and it's the best thing ever. I went to buy my own recently, but I couldn't find it anywhere :(. I think Cuisinart has their own version, but it's much weaker from what I hear.

I have a Cuisinart Powerblend Duet...it's one motor base that accepts both a blender and a food processor. I really like it. It's obviously no vitamix but it works well for anything I've used it for. One drawback is that the food processor cup isn't huge, but again, it works well for whatever I've needed. Also it's 78$ right now on Amazon with free shipping which is an incredible deal.

level 2

I have one of these as well. It does work well. The food processor portion is a bit small, I agree. But it works. I just do batches sometimes. It beats having another appliance!

level 1

There's an awful lot of crossover between the two machines. I think your best bet is to carefully consider your needs/wants and then either buy a $200 food processor and a $30 immersion blender or a $200 blender and a $30 mini-prep.

level 2

Blenders can't grate cheese, chop vegetables, make dough, etc. Food processors can't make smoothies, chop ice, or make perfectly smooth sauces and soups. =/

level 1

i'm happy with my Kitchenaid food processor, which comes in at 80-100 according to google. You want a strong motor on a processor and this one is good.

I have this oster blender. $30 sounds reasonable. It is great, has a knob, so you don't have to worry about it breaking

level 2

Which kitchenaid do you have?

level 1

I bought a used professional cuisinart and inherited a 50 year old osterizer oster blender with the glass and bakelite pitcher part. Both are rock solid, super powerful, easy to clean and built to work forever. You can find them cheap on craigslist or Ebay. 50-75 bucks for both most likely.

The cuisinart's base is a dark yellowish brown instead of light cream colored after spending 20 years in a restaurant. Stuff like that will get you a good deal and if it's a good brand you can actually repair/maintain them for cheap.

level 1

Don't spend the money on the food processor and spend it on getting a better blender.

level 2

Different tools for different jobs. You can't make a good chunky salsa in a blender and you can't make a smoothie in a good processor.

level 1

get a vitamix blender and don't get a food processor. It will be the best thing you have in our kitchen, and you will wonder how you managed to ever survive without it.

level 2

Sadly, a vitamix is way beyond my budget.

I live in a small flat and space is a premium. I'm wondering if anyone can suggest a blender/food processor combo that is worth buying?

After all isn't the different all in the vessel? The motor will be the same, it's just a different set of blades?

Thanks!

It's pricey but Vitamix has a good combo. The food processor bowl and blades are extra. I don't love that the processor and blades don't stack together. The motor for the blender and food processor are the same.

level 1

The only thing holding me back from getting the Vitamix food processor attachment is the lack of a pulse option (I have an old-school 5200). Otherwise, I’m in your boat.

level 1

Ninja is almost as highly rated as Vitamix at 1/4 the price

level 1

Why do you need both? A good food processor will do most things a blender will do. Honestly a Hamilton Beach food processor will do some good work for the money.

Should I get a food processor or a blender Reddit?

A blender is able to do things you can't do in any other way, whereas a food processor can almost always be replaced either by spending a lot of time chopping stuff, or using a blender, or using a grater, or whatever. But it saves a lot of time.

What is the difference between a food processor and a food blender?

Primarily, a blender is used to puree or crush ice. Use a blender if your final product is something you can drink, such as a mocktail, drizzle or dip. In addition to pureeing, a food processor can slice, grate, shred, dice and more.

Do I need a food processor if I have a blender?

You do not need a blender and a food processor unless you want to make a wide range of recipes. Blenders are better for smoothies, iced drinks, and soups. Food processors make a better hummus, pesto, and salsa. The differences between them include the bowl shape and blade style.
