How can I see my TikTok watched history?

One of the more frustrating aspects of TikTok used to be the difficulty in finding a video that you really liked and wanted to see again but had accidentally swiped past or watched a day or two ago. Previously, there was a long, complex series of steps you had to follow to find out your watch history on TikTok — making it hardly worth the effort. Now, however, you can easily find your watch history for the past seven days — and, if you want, erase it.

To find your watch history in the TikTok app:

  • Tap your Profile icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
  • Select the three-line icon at the top-right corner.
  • Tap on Settings and privacy > Watch history.

You will now see a gallery with all of the videos you’ve watched over the last seven days. Click on any that you’d like to rewatch.

You can now find up to seven days of your watch history.

You can disable and delete your watch history.

If you’d rather not save your watch history or if you want to erase your current history, it’s simple to arrange:

  • On the Watch history page, tap the gear icon in the upper-right corner.
  • Tap Clear history > Clear to erase your current history.
  • Toggle Watch history off if you don’t want it to be saved.

Keep in mind that, even if you toggle Watch history off, TikTok is still tracking which videos you watch because that’s how its algorithms determine which videos to show you in the future.

  • You can find your history on TikTok by opening the Settings menu.
  • Your TikTok history page saves about seven days worth of watch history.
  • You can also turn off or clear your TikTok history from this page, too.

TikTok videos come and go so quickly that it's not always easy to remember what you've watched. That's why TikTok has a watch history page that tracks every TikTok video you've seen, even if you didn't watch them all the way through.

Here's how to find it.

How to see your TikTok history

This feature is available on both iPhone and Android. Just note that your watch history page will only show the videos you've watched on that specific device.

1. Open TikTok and log into your account, then tap the Profile icon in the bottom-right corner.

2. Once your profile opens, tap the three stacked lines in the top-right corner, and then Settings and privacy at the bottom.

3. Scroll down to the Content & Activity section and tap Watch history.

You'll see a full list of everything you've watched recently on TikTok. The app claims that it only saves up to seven days worth of history, but in our testing, it showed us videos that we'd watched nearly two weeks ago.

There will also be a gear icon in the top-right corner of this page. Tap the gear, and you'll find the options to stop tracking your watch history or erase it.

TikTok users aren’t happy to learn that they can’t access the videos they’ve already watched as the fan-favorite ‘watch history’ feature has gone missing.

A large number of users have taken to Twitter to express their frustration about the missing option.

TikTok had previously stated that they were testing the above feature on some of its users when it was first introduced in March 2022. The platform is yet to confirm if the missing feature is due to a glitch or if it’s been removed intentionally.

What is ‘watch history’ on TikTok

More often than not, we tend to scroll past TikToks we have watched and enjoyed before hitting on the like button.

So, when you refresh your feed, the TikToks you’ve already watched will disappear.

The ‘watch history’ feature was aimed to fill this gap and allow users to access the all posts they have come across on the platform.

Users could see all the TikToks they’ve viewed in the last seven days.

Alternate ways

There are two other ways to access your watch history on TikTok:

  • You can go to the Discover page and type an asterisk (*) and hit enter. Select the filter button next to the search bar and turn the ‘watched videos’ option on.
  • History of viewed TikToks can also be accessed with the ‘Download Your Data’ option in your privacy settings. Either choose a TXT file or a JSON file before clicking on ‘Request Data’. The ZIP file will include your browsing history.
