Why YouTube Needs to Process Video After Uploading?

There are two reasons why YouTube needs to process video after uploading. First of all, 300 hours of videos are uploading to YouTube every minute. YouTube has to store all videos on the data center. Secondly, generally speaking, it takes long to load a video on any devices. To make sure YouTube users watch the best quality videos and don’t take much time to load, YouTube makes several copies of the video in different resolutions and store them on servers. Then, it provides the best video file that loads fastest and has the best quality for users according to the Internet. Thirdly, YouTube has to check if you have used songs or videos that has copyright. Any content that is ineligible will not be processed.

Is your YouTube video not processing or stuck at 0% processing?

Or is your YouTube video not uploading?

Processing and uploading issues are common on YouTube.

It can be frustrating because you might have spent hours making the video, but you can’t upload it.

Moreover, if you have a posting schedule, processing and uploading issues can hinder it.

Your first reaction might be to cancel the upload.

However, if you’re uploading a video on YouTube and you’ve already added the description and tags, canceling the upload will remove them.

Hence, it’s best not to cancel the upload until you’ve saved them.

In this guide, you’ll learn how to fix processing and uploading issues on YouTube, whether it’s stuck at 0%, 50%, or 95%.

  • Why is my YouTube video not uploading?
  • Why is my YouTube video stuck at 0% processing?

To fix YouTube video not processing, you can either try waiting for a few minutes, clearing your browser’s cookies and cache, or turning your Wi-Fi off and on again.

Alternatively, if you’re uploading a video on the YouTube mobile app, try uploading it on a desktop instead.

This is because your mobile internet speed is lower than your desktop’s.

Hence, if you’re uploading a video to YouTube on a desktop, it’ll be processed faster.

Waiting for your video to be processed is the most basic way to fix the processing issue.

At times, your video might be stuck at 0% processing for a few minutes, so you’ll have to wait for a while for it to start.

Secondly, clearing your browser’s cookies and cache is effective in fixing the processing issue.

Lastly, you can try turning your Wi-Fi off and on again.

Here are 3 ways to fix YouTube video not processing:

1. Wait for 10 to 15 minutes

The first way to fix the processing issue on YouTube is to wait for 10 to 15 minutes.

After several minutes, the video will eventually start processing, and you’ll see the processing percentage increasing.

I personally experienced the processing issue myself, and waiting for a few minutes did the trick.

I tried canceling the upload multiple times and re-uploading the video to YouTube.

However, canceling the upload and re-uploading it does not work—the video was still stuck at 0% processing.

I then decided to leave my computer for 10 to 15 minutes and returned after.

Surprisingly, the video was successfully processed and uploaded to YouTube.

For longer videos, the processing time will be longer.

However, the processing time for shorter videos might be stuck at 0% as well.

Either way, your best bet is to be patient and wait.

Leave the tab open, and do not cancel the upload.

Eventually, the video will start processing after some time (it could be anywhere between 10 to 30 minutes or shorter).

2. Clear your cookies and cache

The second way to fix the processing issue on YouTube is to clear your browser’s cookies and cache.

This method can be used on all browsers.

However, in this example, I’ll be using screenshots from Chrome.

Before you clear your browser’s cookies and cache, make sure to save your video’s description and tags first.

If you don’t save them, you’ll have to redo them which will be a waste of time.

Firstly, click on the three dots on the top navigation bar of Chrome.

After you’ve clicked on the three dots, a navigation menu will open.

On the navigation menu, you’ll see several options including “New tab”, “New window”, and more.

Hover your cursor over the “More tools” option.

Then, a second navigation menu will open.

This time, click on “Clear browsing data…” to go to the setting to clear your browsing data.

Once you’ve clicked on “Clear browsing data…”, you’ll land on the “Clear browsing data” popup.

On the “Clear browsing data” popup, you’ll see the “Time range” dropdown box and 3 other checkboxes.

Click on the “Time range” dropdown box and select “Last 7 days”.

You can also select “All time” if you want to clear your all-time browsing data.

Next, check the “Cookies and other site data” checkbox.

This will sign you out of most sites (e.g. Google, Facebook).

Hence, you may need to sign in back to YouTube later on.

Then, check the “Cached images and files” checkbox.

This will free up space in your computer and fix loading issues.

Lastly, click on “Clear data” to clear the browsing data that you’ve chosen.

After that, sign in back to YouTube and try uploading your video again.

This time, your video should begin processing as usual.

3. Turn your Wi-Fi off then turn it back on

The third way to fix the processing issue on YouTube is to turn your Wi-Fi off then turn it back on again.

Alternatively, you can try turning your computer off and on again.

At times, you might be facing connectivity issues.

Restarting your computer or Wi-Fi can fix these issues.

Many users on YouTube have tried restarting their Wi-Fi, router, and computer.

Most of them managed to fix the processing issue on YouTube by doing so.

Why is my YouTube video not uploading?

Your YouTube video is not uploading either because you haven’t waited long enough, your upload speed is slow, or you might be uploading during a peak time.

At times, a YouTube video might be stuck at 0% processing for several minutes.

To fix this, you need to wait for several minutes.

Once you’ve waited for several minutes, the video will eventually begin processing as usual.

Secondly, if your internet speed is low, your video will take a longer time to be processed.

Make sure to check your upload speed before you upload a video to YouTube.

If your upload speed is below 5 Mbps, your video might not be processed because its too slow.

Lastly, if you’re uploading during a peak time, it might take longer to upload your video to YouTube.

Why is my YouTube video stuck at 0% processing?

Your YouTube video is stuck at 0% processing either because of a glitch on YouTube’s end, your upload speed is too slow, or you might be uploading during a peak time.

When your YouTube video is stuck at 0% processing, it’s usually because of a glitch.

To fix it, your best bet is to wait for several minutes, and the video will eventually start processing as usual.

Before you upload a video to YouTube, make sure to check your upload speed first.

If your upload speed is low, try switching to another Wi-Fi.

Lastly, if you’re uploading during a peak time, it might take longer to upload your video to YouTube.

If that’s the case, you can try uploading at a different time.

Conclusion

As a YouTube, uploading and processing issues are a hindrance to your uploading schedule.

However, these issues are unavoidable at times even if your internet connection is fine.

You can use the methods mentioned in this guide to fix uploading and processing issues on YouTube.

However, before you attempt any of the methods, make sure to save your video’s description and tags first.

You can do so by copying and pasting them on a notepad.

That way, you can easily copy and paste them when you re-upload your video to YouTube.
